Alain : 10-4 good buddy !

Alain : Did you receive and read my recent post concerning several
strategic issues to be dealt with soon ? Comments ?

Alain : Only too happy to be of service, Uli ;-))

Alain : The consensus that is developping is that we will use C++, and
I didn't want to overly bias our group by insisting too much on PERL
right away, but now that you are bringing up the subject ... I am in
favour of PERL, for the following reasons :

1. I am familiar with PERL.

2. PERL is the language most oft used on the Web.

3. It is easy to learn and to use, if you stay away from the Regular
Expressions.

4. PERL is a scripting language that abstracts away many low-level
details, like memory management for instance.

5. PERL is as multi-platform as C++. Each has an extensive set of
libraries to speed up our development.

6. PERL is another open source initiative ( fellowship ).

7. PERL is specialized in pattern-matching and string-manipulation,
even more so than HyperCard.

Alain : So, Uli, explain to me why you are so dead-set against PERL ?
