I don't see why we couldn't support both. The fact that
GNOME isn't entrenched with applications already made
to get OpenScript embedded into the project in my eyes.
I would love to see this kind of support in KDE as well.
As far as interfaces go, GNOME has a mac and windows
interface as well, not sure about BeOS though (it could
be written).
Both might actually help to bridge the two platforms! :)
I had problems with the QPL before but I reread it just now
and the concerns I had before seem to be gone.
The idea that I had was to extend something like wxWindows
to support KDE and GNOME, this way developers didn't
have to choose which desktop they used. They wrote their
app once and got all the platforms. For some reason I
thought this wouldn't really be possible before, but I see
nothing in the license that prevents this kind of development.
The other concept was to create bindings from GNOME to
KDE and vice versa and this seems like it can be done now
as well.
Assuming we can get the expertise and the manpower I think
both is the best thing I have heard all day! :)
