Adrian: Alain, have you had a chance to look at the
Voting CGI?
Alain: Yes, I tried it 10 minutes ago, with the
following result : 502 Bad Gateway - A CGI or internal
server component could not complete the requested
action.
Adrian: I think I uploaded it to the UFP server.
Alain: Yes, you did. I saved a copy of the "vote.stak"
stack as an application named "vote.cgi". I couldn't
find an HTML-form to test it with, so I improvized.
Adrian: It would be good to see this operational soon,
if possible.
Alain: Indeed, but it is as I feared. MacOS 8.6 does
not inter-operate well with HC when it comes to
messaging with AppleEvents, including but not limited
to CGI.
Alain: So what do we do now? We can either upgrade my
MacOS to 9.x because this version of the MacOS no
longer has this messaging bug. Or we port your
HyperCard work to AppleScript, as I have done with all
of my CGIs.
Alain: This is a little bit embarassing, but I cannot
remember who is the author of the Download Manager. It
is you, Adrian, is it not? I tested it but there were
difficulties here too. The stack generates the images,
no problem there, but it doesn't generate the index
page which, in fact, is the purpose of the stack in
the first place. Other than that, though, it looks
like a nice piece of work ... no, I am not kidding!
