Alain: We don't want to constrain our development
efforts. Thus, our primary selection-criteria for our
development tools should be guided by what is the best
option(s) to achieve our goals. I don't want to sound
elitist but the price and/or whether it is commercial
or open source, while obviously important, are
secondary consideration in my view. Open,
non-proprietary choices are most definitely preferred,
but remain secondary if these development tools are
not bundled into FreeCard and are not needed by the
FreeCard runtime in order to perform its task(s).

Alain: I never imagined that there were that many
choices for GUI-toolkits. I am blown away!

Alain: Quite right.

Alain: Not just students, of course, since cost is
often a consideration for many developers, albeit to a
lesser degree for the latter than for the former.

Alain: Commercial or not, the question I would ask is:
What option is the best one(s) from a technical standpoint?
