Alain: Don't be so dead-sure that it is my CGI that is
broken, Anthony. It works for everyone but you. A mere
coincidence? Probably not. Your setup is likely a very
good one (better/securer than most), but it is
somewhat paradoxical isn't it that better translates
into less flexible -- e.g. all other setups I have
encountered thus far have worked well with my CGIs.

Alain: This is quite probably the crux of the problem.

Alain: In part, it is due to the fact that there are
very few HyperCard-based CGI programs out there. There
are very few Mac-based web-serving folk like myself,
for that matter.
> In fact, your CGI is the only thing on the web

Alain: And you are the only person having problems
with my CGIs. I am hosting hundreds of students as we
speak. I have hosted 5000 students thus far. No one of
them has reported anything remotely as bad as you are
reporting.

Alain: Yes, but does your ISP host HyperCard-based
CGIs?
> Chances are that your FC.cgi is spitting out

Alain: This is plausible. I do not attend to any of
the HTTP headers at all. I never have. Not when
working with HyperCard-based CGIs being hosted by
WebStar 2.x. The only time I need to attend to the
HTTP stuff is when I make AppleScript-based CGIs.
> Anthony: I'd love to know why ...
Alain: Yes, it would be nice to know why ...
> Anthony: ... as it obviously needs to be fixed.
Alain: ... but the answer is of academic interest only
because the next step in the process is the complete
elimination of the CGI aspect of my
web-site-generator. It will soon become a local
program that spits out the entire web-site at once, as
pure HTML.

Alain: I did that,
but all I got was a "error. No such file".
I was careful with the case-sensitiveness.
The url/path was indeed the correct one.
I am a little bit surprised that
my password was not required.
> You should then get back a page and some headers.
> Please post both.
Alain: Sorry. I have nothing to post. I guess you will
have to wait for someone else to give it a try.
