Tim,
one possible solution would be to use one of Towitoko's readers. You'll
find a link to them on the OpenCard homepage / supported devices.
You could connect one of their readers at the same serial port that you use
for your mouse. The mouse will be blocked at the time you access the smart
card.
Or you could use an IButton from Dallas Semiconductor, which you could
attached to the parallel port.
What ports do you have available on your device ?

Subject: [OCF] Spec for readers and cards
'evening all,
I am looking to identify candidate cards and readers for a project I
am working on. We have a Java client app that I would like to
integrate with cards via OCF and have of course scanned the OCF pages
to find readers with CardTerminal implementations. I expect that
we will have to write a CardService for the particular application.
I am restricted by the requirement that on each of our boxes, we must
use one of our serial ports for the mouse, and the other for a modem;
this requiremnent is unfortunately inflexible.
Having advocated a relatively flexible Java and OCF-based design, I
am now unsure if I can match OCF CardTerminal support with our
physical port requirements. I am hoping that someone can suggest a
solution, based on past experience.
TIA,
Tim.
