Dear OpenCard Community, The complete package (i.e., an OCF CardService) for using the first GemXpresso kit and cards within the OCF environment is now available on the Gemplus developer's web (http://www.gemplus.com/developers). It allows to "minimally" manage the GemXpresso Javacard, e.g., select an applet, download one or download the system classes (see the test program -TestGemxpressoCardService.java- for an example of use), but you still need to have the GemXpresso RAD working in order to create the ".cap" file. Note that this package also allows to use DMI (Direct Method Invocation) to communicate with the card: you have to create a proxy object using the RAD, and then change the "import" lines according to what the README file of the package will tell you: the proxy should then work automatically using the OCF stack instead of the Gemplus API. Note also that you must have "card_api_classes.zip" (the Javacard API, found in the RAD) in your CLASSPATH when you run the *client* application: this is because the proxy might generate Javacard exceptions, exactly the same way your applet might do. Patrick and me hope that this temporary "bridge" between GemXpresso cards and OCF will help OCF developers to develop Javacard applets with proxy objects and DMI. The new release of GemXpresso is entirely based on OCF. To download, you have to register to the Gemplus Developer's Web http://www.gemplus.com/developers/ Then, please click on: [ Development Tools ] [ Drivers ] [ OCF drivers ] [ GemXpresso 1 ] Two files are available : one in "tar.gz" format, and one in ".zip" format. Select the one corresponding to your platform and/or available unpacking tools, i.e., * if you are under Unix, download: gemplus-gemxpresso1.tar.gz * if you are under Windows, download: gemplus-gemxpresso1.zip Note that the "tar.gz" file is significantly smaller (50% smaller), so if you have the right WINZIP plugin for "tar.gz" files, it is advised to choose this one. Then to install the package, please follow the unpacking and configuration indications given in the README file (which happens to also be the downloading web page) under section 3.1 "For using GemxpressoCardService". Important note: It is the first release of this package! As usual, the code is still delivered AS-IS, without any warranty, at the destination of OCF developers. Please do not hesitate to send us any remarks, problems reports, bug fixes, or ideas of enhancements about this component (either in the Gemplus Developer's Web OCF forum, or by sending an email to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"). Cheers, Christophe. = Foster's Query: If the polls are so accurate, why are there = = so many polling companies? = Visit the OpenCard Framework's WWW site at http://www.opencard.org/ for access to documentation, code, presentations, and OCF announcements. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the OCF Mailing list, send a mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" with the word "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message.
