i use a GCR410 with pure OCF drivers. works fine. i have no problems yet.
be sure to have installed Java Serial Port API.
the line in opencard.properties is

OpenCard.terminals=com.gemplus.opencard.terminal.GemplusCardTerminalFactory|
GCR410|GCR410|COM1

i'm running NT 4.0
