Some of us are working at the ISO, CEN and national levels to try to solve
the general problem of being able to handle any card platform. Others,
particularly the MUSCLE (Linux) crowd, are doing pioneering work as well.
And the transport sector in several European countries is also worrying away
at the general problem of muliple card issuers and multiple card platforms.

Unfortunately, until we get a common card edge set of specs and guidelines,
the terminal technology will be neglected.

Well maybe they've all sold their souls to MS and PC/SC...

If you ask me, Java's days as a smartcard host application platform are
only beginning. Let's just hope Sun don't let the Vendors give up on Java
as the host interface language.

Thanks, but I'm only posting occasionally.

Cheers
