The community is alive as long as users exist.

I've been a lurker for a while now. It's been quite apparent that not
much is going on with the OCF group.

I think it's a great idea to continue development in the OpenSource
space. I do not currently use OCF day-to-day but would be glad to help
in what little ways I can.

Somewhere on my TODO list, I had plans to package OCF & drivers for
Linux (Debian and probably RedHat). I did start work on RedHat
packages. I'm currently attempting to become a

I would be happy to donate what I have (build scripts and RPM specs) to
the new project. I *think* I have a gnumake file but I'd be happy to
port to an ANT file for donation.

As for *where* to put the project...I'm always wary of SourceForge
because it is a commercial entity. Who's to say they won't go away in
the future, taking source & projects with them. Or what if they start
charging subscription fees. I also *hate* forums. Needing to poll a
slow web-forum for new posts sux. I much prefer mail lists with
searchable archives. SourceForge is better than nothing.

Are there alternatives out there? Savannah is one, but OCF isn't GPL -
not sure if that's an issue. Anyone interested in hosing anonymous CVS
for OCF? If there aren't any takers, I'll discuss it with my business
partner and see if we can do it.

For a while now I've considered starting a new OCF, taking the source
and running with it for enhancements and such. The license certainly
allows it.

I say "let's do it!"
