I think it makes sense to expand this to the CLDC platform. Having the javacard
API for CLDC would make sense for a group of security devices with more diverse
functions than a JavaCard but which are security tokens at the same time.

A JavaCard based USB token could offer encrypted filesystem(s) accessible for
applications that interact with JavaCard applets on the same security token, for 
example.

So the idea would be to make javacard.* and javacardx.* available on CLDC devices
and add a javacardx.input for JavaCard and CLDC-based security tokens.

Before starting this as a JSR I invite everybody who's interested to join
a dev.java.net project (as an incubator for tje JSR):
