Well, congratulations for obtaining your VIA Technologies silicon based board
for development purposes.
I do not usually use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, but I am aware that many people do
indeed use it, so I will consider it to be an important platform for OpenChrome
validation purposes.
Although I do not really know the exact cause, I do know that ATI Technologies
/ AMD PCI Express graphics cards cause a hang with VIA Technologies PCI Express
chipsets (have observed this with PT890 chipset) in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I do not know if Ubuntu 14.04 LTS has fixed this bug.
Xubuntu or Lubuntu 12.04 is not affected by this bug.
This bug is probably related to Unity UI.
