I get 0's on our SGI's with Irix 6.5.  By the way you had a little typo on
the 2nd line (trucn).

Results for me are:

trunc(a): 0.000000
trunc(b): 0.000000

However, I my up and down button's work fine for my interactors (Scaler,
Vector, Integer).  I have not extensively tested the other interactors you
had problems with, but they seem to work fine when I put them in a Control
Panel.
