Just for those wondering where I think we stand for release. I know
there are two issues preventing a clean build and clean run of most
components on all my platforms.
1. "ln -sf" is a problem on Windows/Intel since most X-servers can't
follow links (hard linking is not the answer either). I propose to
make an env variable for this function that allows one to override it
at configure with a cp instead.
2. JavaDX has got some problems with image formats. Since we removed
gif, we need to get things working back in a reasonable manner. I'd
like to try and work on this and get it working satisfactorily as
well before release.
anybody else got issues they think should definitely be addressed
before release should try and get them fixed.
