I am fairly new to opendx and I am having some trouble getting things
working correctly.
I am running the linux 6.1 binary distribution.

1) when I select "help" / "Table of Contents" I get a help window that
says

help is not currently available for this topic

I have directory that I believe has the help files but I don't know how
to get it connected.

<bowser 81 ~/Util/OpenDX/dx-4.0.9/help>pwd
/home/dugan/Util/OpenDX/dx-4.0.9/help
<bowser 82 ~/Util/OpenDX/dx-4.0.9/help>ls |wc
   1309 1309 12092

Similar problems exist with data paths. I need to start dx in the
tutorial/data directory for the example1.net to find the
watermolecule.dx data file. Error message says the file is not found in
the current directory or the "DXDATA path".

How do I set the help and data search paths?

2) The second problem is regular server diconnections. I would
probably be able to solve this If I could read the help file and
understand why there is a server at all in a visulaization package (?).
While executing any one ofthe many samples, I often (not always) get a
modal message window that says
"Connection to server has been broken"

I can reconnect, and it then helps to reset the connection. the broken
connection message occurs about 3/4 of the timesI push execute, and less
rfequetly if I push the reset server.

What is causing the broken connection to server message and how do I fix
it?

3) My last question relates to applications. I would like to use
opendx to view molecular structures and animations of moving molecules.
In earching the archives (manually), I have found referece to Richard
Gililan chemistry modules and a makefile and something called an .mdf.
I would particularly like something that can read a simple ascii file
format called xmol format.

Does anyone know about chemstry modules for opendx?

Thanks in advance for any help people can provide!
