I have to say, that the reason that I haven't installed the OpenDX for W98/NT is because I can't find any install instructions that make any sense. I have used DX a lot, but I'm not a programmer. If you want to make OpenDX work (mean open it up to a wider user group), it's got to be made more accessible.
It is open to all, that is why it is called OpenDX.
I mean, why the "bzip" stuff?
Bzip has nothing to do with programmer. I magine a user walks in says why Word Perfect stuff, I am usedto M$ Word.
What's wrong with gzip, that at least winzip will work with?
Winzip, in my opinion is lousey. Bzip2 provides 30% better compression then gzip, that MEANS SAVING OF 30% TIME TO DOWNLOAD
and WATCH YOU COMPUTER SCREEN.
Excuse, me but I do not have time to teach how to type
bunzip2 xxx.tar.bz2

Don't get me wrong, I recognise you guys are putting in a lot of time on this. In fact, if someone puts together some notes as a starting point, I'll struggle through the OpenDX install on W98 and, if I'm successful, will make up some install notes (I'm probably embarrassing myself, and will have someone point me to what I need - I hope so). Anyway, keep up the effort, I believe it's worth it.
Sincerely,
Mark Stoakes

Mark, I'm very interested in your progress and suggest you carefully
document as you proceed so that others installing on Wintel platforms can
benefit from your work. Soon I intend to install on an NT40WS SP5 machine.
So please email me your progress.
