Rob,

Under the Options menu, you can turn Prevent Overlap off. This will make it so modules can only be placed in Open Spaces and will not bounce modules around. There is a way to let modules lay over one another, but that's another story.

Hello,

I like to nicely arrange the modules on the VPE canvas
to optimize the visual, logical structure of the connections.

It's a nuissance whenever I add a new module to the scheme
(just a bit too close to another one) that the VPE automatically
rearranges the modules, generally making a big mess of the
connections.
In such a case, it would be very useful to have an "undo" button,
to at least get the previous VPE layout back.

The only solution now is the old fashioned way: frequently saving
the VPE layout. I'm looking forward for that "undo" button!

I'm running OpenDX 4.0.9 on a Linux(2.2.15) PC.

Rob.

PS: When I drop the 'route' module on the VPE canvas, remove
the second output tab (leaving it with only one output tab),
save it and open it again, then 'route' has again two output tabs!
A bug?
The 'route' module with extra ouput tabs is correctly saved.
