Okay, what you need is the formula for allowing modules to overlap.
To enable this functionality permanently, edit the ".Xdefaults" file
in your home directory and add the line:
DX*vpeCanvas.allowOverlap: True
Use the command "xrdb -merge .Xdefaults" to enable this feature
immediately. Every X session you start after editing this file,
results with OpenDX allowing modules to overlap. If you only want to
occasionally use this feature, put the above line in its own file and
use the "xrdb -merge filename" command when desired.
Note: Some lines tend to disappear at times with this feature. Thus
only experienced users should use this.

Under the Options menu, you can turn Prevent Overlap off. This will

David,
Thanks, but this does not prevent the new module to push aside
other modules and by doing so muddling up the by me nicely
arranged connections.
For example: a small open space on the canvas is enough to drop
the large-sized camera, which then will push all other modules
that are in the way aside.
If I haven't saved the previous VPE layout, I then have to do
the tedious job of nicely arrange the modules and connections
once again.
It's may be a small detail, but quite often I'm very angry
when loosing my neat scheme by adding a new module on the VPE.
That "undo" button, giving me the previous lay-out again, is
at that moment a strong wish.
As I said, saving frequently the VPE scheme, is a solution,
but that is (according to me) the old fashioned way of
dealing with the problem.
