Thank you, Suhaib. I checked out the exceed work-around, at least I think
it's the one to which you were referring. I found it at
http://www.hummingbird.com/support/nc/exceed/xdkr004.html
in case anyone's interested.
However, this was not the problem. I happened to notice a message that
flickered briefly in my MS-DOS window upon starting opendx: "out of
environment space". I had not noticed it before, because the XtWarnings
were so profuse they erased it quickly. So I right-clicked on "MS-DOS
prompt" in the Start menu, selected "properties", and under the "memory"
tab, set the "initial environment" setting to its max value.
Now all the environment variables can set properly, and I can connect to
dxexec and edit visual programs.
I thought I'd share that in case anyone else might have the same problem...
Now that that's fixed, I have a new problem. If I try to execute a vp, say
example1.net, I receive the following in a message window:
*-----------------------------------------
Starting DX executive
port = 1900
server: accepted connection from client
0: #1060
Begin Execution
ERROR: Import: Bad parameter: #12240
Begin Execution
0 0 [main] C:\USR\LOCAL\DX\BIN_CYGWIN\DXEXEC.EXE 1002
handle_exceptions: Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
0 490 [main] DXEXEC 1002 stackdump: Dumping stack trace to
DXEXEC.EXE.stackdump
*-----------------------------------------
upon which I have to re-start the server connection, which works with no
problem. I've tried messing with the import module a bit (i.e., the path to
"watermolecule.dx"), but no success. Any idea what's going on?
If it would help, I can send the stack trace.
Thanks!
