Hello, here's a newbie question.

Before I spend the time to learn dx, I was wondering if
someone out there could tell me if this was possible:

Imagine a square, inside this square are a random number
or randomly oriented lines of random length (there will
be some intersections of lines but three lines will not
meet at a single point) none of which exceed the
boundaries of the square. I have data values along these
lines at irregular intervals. I want to produce plots
of these data values (colour scaled) such that the overall
appearance of the plot still captures the fact that these
are discrete lines (lots of blank space between the coloured
lines, and they retain their small thickness).

If this is possible, I would be quite happy and throw
myself into dx.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.
