first, thanks for pointing out the archive - great source. however, i've
got to have something extremely wrong, as the recommended solution hasn't
worked, and while I can bring up the samples, the tutorial just appears as
an empty window (no error message). Here is what I have:

opendx-4.1.1
redhat 7
glibc 2.2-5
gcc-2.96-54
XFree86-4.0.1-1
libcdf-2.7-1
sgi-opengl-1.2.1-1
openmotif-2.1.30-2_ICS
(it is recommended you upgrade rhnsd - I don't use up2date, so the nature
of the problem is unclear. but I installed the latest rpm for up2date
anyway)

I have downloaded the dxsamples file. When I run configure, I do get a
message from sed that it cannot read
/dxsamples-4.0.8/java/makes/Makefile.in because the file isn't there. In
fact, in that "makes" directory there is only an empty Makefile.

Should there be any "text" associated with the tutorial? All I find in
samples/tutorial are .net and .cfg files. Is the tutorial itself a dx
application?

*however* I'll use the manual instead. My concern is that if the tutorial
won't work, is there other stuff that won't as well? Or worse, will sort
of work?

Thanks for any help.
