Try and start the executive by itself and see what kind of errors you get.

dx -script

David

I'm having trouble installing OpenDX on a Solaris machine.
Specifically, an Ultrasparc 10 running SunOS 5.7 (I believe
this is Solaris 7).

First time I tried to run DX I apparently didn't have OpenGL on the
machine. DX came up, I could load my program, but couldn't execute.
had an error:

Connection to server SERVERNAME failed:

Starting DX executive
ld.so.1:/export/home/debra/dx/usr/local/dx/bin_solaris/dxexec: fatal: libGL.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed

So, I installed OpenGL. I put it in a directory on a partition with
more disk space. It said it
installed correctly, and I should restart my window system. Since I
was remotely logged in (via ssh), I logged off, then back on.
Could this be the problem?

In any case, I now get a different error. DX comes up, but if I choose
"Edit Visual Programs..." and then select my program, I get a pop-up
which says "Unable to connect to dxexec" and an error in my cmdtool
saying "DXLStartChild: Could not connect using 'dx'". I can't even
see the program now.

I appreciate your help. I leave for a conference on Friday, where
I'll do a demo using OpenDX, and the machine I've been working on
(where I had no problems installing OpenDX) may not be available.
