I am doing a demo using OpenDX on Monday afternoon. I was assured that the connections from here to my department's computer were T1 or better the entire way, so I wouldn't notice a delay unless I were using streaming video.
I am using exceed and F-Secure SSH. This worked when I was home. It takes considerable time for the main button panel to appear, plus a significant wait for the Welcome window (and I can't click on a button until the welcome window displays). When I choose "Run (or Edit) Visual Programs..." and choose a program file, after a long delay, I get a pop-up error "Unable to connect to dxexec" and a message in my xterm window saying : timeout waiting for response from DX connection timed out I have turned compression on to try to improve speed.
