If you would like to provide this to the community, I do have space
where I could put it on the NPACI OpenDX space and provide a link
from OpenDX.org.

As the author of that stuff, I don't know the problem. It's very old. On
the other hand, I have used it with newer versions of DX and not seen any
problem.
FYI, there is a tutorial available on using those tools, available at
http://www.research.ibm.com/dx/proceedings/cart/index.htm
I could provide a somewhat newer version of the package, which includes a
lot more applications, if someone wanted. It's a few hundred MB, however.
