I am new to OpenDX and to x-servers. I have just installed Exceed, Exceed 3D and OpenDX onto a Dell 933Mhz Pentium III running Windows 2000 and I am having a few problems. When I run Editor.bat it takes about 45 seconds for OpenDx to appear on the screen and when it does the DOS window contains many warning messages. The following are typical:
XtWarning: ... found while parsing ':<Key>osfCancel: PrimitiveParentCancel XtWarning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: osfBeginLine XtWarning: ... found while parsing ':<Key>osfBeginLine: PrimitiveTraverseHome XtWarning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: osfUp XtWarning: ... found while parsing ':<Key>osfUp: PrimitiveTravseUp()' XtWarning: translation table syntax error: Unknown keysym name: osfDown XtWarning: ... found while parsing ':<Key>osfDown: PrimitiveTravseDown()' When I load a sample program (e.g., Zipcodes.net) it loads immediately. When I click on Execute on Change" it takes about 30 seconds for an image to appear. Once the image appears, and I switch to hardware rendering, I can rotate the image in "real time." The keyboard is not mapped properly. The delete key is mapped to space and the backspace mapped to plus/minus. Finally, simple commands often take a long time to execute. For example, when I click on "Quit" it takes more than a minute before "Do you want to save the program?" appears. I went through the following steps to install the software and to run OpenDX 1. Installed Exceed 7.0.0.1 and Exceed 3D into C:\Exceed 2. Unpacked OpenDX version 4.1.1 into c:\OpenDX 3. Created directory C:\exceed\user (Exceed 7 didn't create one) 4. Copied the files and folders in c:\OpenDX\bin\Exceed\user to C:\exceed\user 5. Created a directory c:\tmp 6. Restarted my computer 7. Started Exceed 8. Opened a DOS window 9. Changed the directory to C:\OpendDX\bin 10. Typed menu What is the cause of the warning messages, the delays and keyboard problem? How do I fix them? I suspect that some of the problems are associated with the files I copied into C:\exceed\user as some of the messages seem to be related to the xKeysymDb file. If I remove all of the files from C:\exceed\user no additional problems are introduced.
