I don't know the answer for sure, but I would guess the Unix version does
not support polygons. However, I just converted what I consider polygons
(lakes, state boundary) to dx using the SGI gis2dx version. I am not
that familar with shapefiles, but there seems to be a difference between
Unix and PC versions, so I can not check the same shapefile on both
systems.

If you have a polygon shapefile you want me to try on Unix, email it to me
or give me an ftp site I can download it from.
