But this won't work on Win9x, which is what Kevin is using.  It's a
Cygwin problem, not an OpenDX problem, and it's described in the
Cygwin FAQ entry "Why doesn't chmod work?".

But I also see that the FAQ entry is incomplete, and I'll remedy that.
(There are other things one can do.)  But the details are probably
off-topic for the opendx list.
