I know all the experts are pissed off by my repeated questions, but this really is very confusing. I am not getting consistent behaviour from OpenDX. In my previous post I said I was able to view the files with 1 and 6 tetrahedra. Just now, after some unsuccessful efforts with bigger datasets, I went back to the same cases and found I was getting the blank screen again. After much screwing around, stopping and restarting dx, I finally got something to view. At this point my program was set up for volume rendering (I had removed the MapToPlane), but what I saw was the plane mapped image. After further bumbling around I started to see the volume rendering again. I am starting to wonder if the problem is really an X server issue, because I don't see what else could cause me to get an image from a program that was run some time before instead of the one just run. I am using Cygwin on W98.
The other thing I find is that frequently but with no apparent pattern an attempt to perform some action, like double clicking on a tool in the editor, causes a long hiatus, with the clock cursor showing. This is incredibly frustrating when it happens in conjunction with the other problem of no image being created. I am starting to wonder if this software combination I have is just not going to work reliably. Is anyone out there using Cygwin and W98 without these problems? Any suggestions will be gratefully received. I'm starting to tear my hair out. Gib NOTICE - This e-mail is only intended to be read by the named recipient.
