Randy, What is the dx header that you are using to import the data? If you send it to me (perhaps not to the list) I'll try to help. Usually, real mr data from the scanners is signed ints (not unsigned ints). In the "mri.general" in the sample data directory I notice that the sample is "unsigned int". Perhaps try "signed int" with your data and see what happens. I do use dx all the time for all kinds of medical images.
