That not exactly what I meant. I not only want  a label at a
specific point, but also a "tick" (i.e. a small line perpendicular to the
axis to indicate at what position the label is located). (If you are
familiar with gnuplot: similar to 'xtics'). In this way a can leave out the
actual label by assigning it a empty string ("") and add the labeling
afterward in LaTeX, thus keeping my fonts equal to the rest of my text. So
I use the "tick" only for locating the position of the labels afterwards.
