I have not had this problem. Is it possible that you don't have your
networking quite setup correctly? I would say that this error message
is a result of trying to connect to some named computer where its
requiring a dns lookup--since you're not on the network it can't
resolve the name. Make sure that you have your machine setup to do
hosts based resolution before dns and that your hosts file contains
your machines name/ip address.

I am running OpenDX v. 4.1.0 (or 4.1.3) for RedHat Linux on a Dell
8200 Intel P4 box.
The OS is RedHat v. 7.2 (kernel 2.4.7-10).
The program runs when I my ethernet card is installed, but if the
machine is off the network, I receive an error message: invalid host
when I attempt to connect the dx client to the dx server.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to run OpenDX on a machine that
is not networked?
Thanks,
Jon
