There was a problem with the images I posted last night, but I've
corrected them. They now accurately reflect the problem.

I'm new to OpenDX and I'm having a problem with the readImage
function. I'm trying to visualize some data stored in HDF format. The
scientific data set portions work great and I haven't had any problem
importing those. Unfortunately, I haven't been so lucky with the HDF
images. It seems to me that OpenDX does not read that format
natively, so I've converted them to TIFF files with ImageMagick.
However, when I read in the image, the result is pixelated where the
data set changes. I've posted a sample at:
http://www.sonicbunny.org/~jayl/opendx/
This images have been converted to png's for the web, but the original
tiffs are at
http://www.sonicbunny.org/~jayl/opendx/in.tiff
http://www.sonicbunny.org/~jayl/opendx/out.tiff
The in.tiff image is the original hdf image converted to tiff by
ImageMagick's convert tool.
The out.tiff is the product of opendx having performed readImage,
Image, writeImage on the original tiff file.
This is typical of the behavior I see by the time the data reaches the
Image module. Everything points to the distortion happening within
readImage.
Another oddity, the dx_logo.tiff included with the dx samples works
fine, so I guess I might be creating tiff files that opendx doesn't
like for some reason.
Like I said, I'm new to OpenDX, so if there's a better way to import
hdf images, please let me know. Otherwise, any suggestions on this
problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
