rpm -ihv --nodeps opendx-4.1.3-3.i386.rpm

should do it. Using a newer OpenMotif will not cause any problems.

David

I'm trying to install the OpenDX rpm on a RedHat 7.1 machine. When I do a
test install I receive the following error message:

rpm -i -hv --test opendx-4.1.3-3.i386.rpm

error: failed dependencies:
        libXm.so.2   is needed by opendx-4.1.3-3

I know that I need to install openmotif but there lies my problem. I
went to openmotif.org to download the rpm file and installed
openmotif-2.2.2-3_ICS.i386.rpm only to discover that the new version of
OpenMotif creates the libraries :

libXm.so -> libXm.so.3.0.1
libXm.so.3 -> libXm.so.3.0.1
libXm.so.3.0.1

not libXm.so.2.* that is needed for the opendx rpm.

I don't know how to get past this. I can't find a version of
openmotif-2.1.30 for my system or figure out how to get opendx to use
libXm.so.3 instead of libXm.so.2.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Erika
