What if you set the Image Size to 800 x 608 using the Camera option
of the View Control dialog so you don't have to "Allow Rendering".
Then do you see the problem?

Yes, I realized that was a problem when I found twice as many frames
as I expected at one point. I remove the original MIFF and click on
the play button on the sequencer. The first frame is the correct size
and the rest are varying sizes.
