I have always found this task easier using Camera, Render and Write Image -
I have attached a net file that shows how I do it. With Camera, you can
specify the width and aspect ratio of your image in terms of the spatial
units of your data and the number of pixels. I have no problems getting my
colour bar on every image. Note that I rotate the data rather than the
image, so you need to transform your data so that they are centred on
[0 0 0].
