Not true. Pick returns "nearest vertex" (I think that's the name of the component). Inspect Pick's output with Print("rd"), then Extract("nearest vertex") (if that's the right name). It also returns the interpolated position of the actual pick ray intersection with the object and that is, as you note, interpolated and contains interpolated data. Send this to Construct(origin) and Autoglyph to get a ball around the actual vertex nearest your pick.
Probe is a 3D cursor with no interaction with the objects, so no use here.
