I imagine this is a scalar interactor (built on the Number widget that dxui uses quite a bit). You click on it and the little box erases its content and seems to pull out? If so, one work-around would be to select the interactor then use a Control Panel menu bar option to change the style of the interactor to Text. (You give up the use of the incr/decr value since you have to type in the value you want.) Although, if this is a scalar interactor built on the Number widget, then I would also wonder if this is really the only place in dxui where this trouble exists. (I'm guessing its cause is an interaction between dxui and the window manager you're using.) You might also try running dxui from the command line so that you could report any messages going to stderr or stdout.
