That is incredible!!! I really like their idea of a fix! <sarcasm> The actual fix of ensuring a null (or a space in it's place if the system won't allow null fields) is written should be easy enough to do. I think if I were in charge of the project I would have to insist they fix this. If nothing else a warning should pop up that states other fields have changed on non-viewed pages. If for some reason (poor design?) they can't fix it. Then the feature of pulling through the data should be disabled completely and not touted as an application feature. I'm not sure what kind of opinions you are looking for but I would consider this unacceptable for any business application much less in a case where lives could be in jeopardy. I fear that now you are going to become embroiled in a politically charged situation now.
