For what it's worth, I almost always set upstreamed patch status just once - to Submitted, and almost never bother to later change it to Accepted or Backport. It's just unnecessary oe-core commit friction, and it is not without cost in triggering rebuilds. The patch that upstream took will be dropped on version upgrade regardless of its status.
