I do have a couple points I'd like to make now:

- the 'make systemd the default' movement is very good at having their
wish known. At the same time, those pushing for it are also not doing
a particularly good job of explaining *why*. It won't make testing and
support for systemd in yocto any better: the test matrix treats both
options as equal. It may make yocto's standard images more performant,
secure and feature rich, but this does need to be written down and
showcased.

- let me be frank: once systemd does become the default, the next push
will be for dropping sysvinit from the test matrix. Which I see as a
step back: away from having interoperability and choice, and towards
software monocultures and tyrannical vendors that lock you in and push
you around. The reason I'm sticking with the yocto project is to make
computing landscape better for everyone, which necessitates those
freedoms; shipping products to the market and solving others'
technical problems is a means to that end, not an end in itself. I
appreciate not everyone sees it that way, or thinks in those
categories.
