Slang is used only by perf (oe-core) and libnewt (meta-oe).
Both build fine with disabled pcre option.

I’ll send a v2 with this, let’s see what AB will say.

You need to find out what slang is used for and whether disabling pcre affects

Possibly I tried to do this cleanup too early, since slang doesn't support
