first of all,
thanks to everybody for suggestions.
Finally I compiled successfully the Angstrom distro (with MACHINE=x86)
for several targets (minimal-image, X11-image and xterminal-image) and
they works on my board (Congatec XTX with Geode LX).
I had just one problem during the building of the ext2 image for the
target /X11-image/, probably because it was greater than 64MB; I changed
image-type in tar.bz2 and all worked fine.
Thanks again
Marco
p.s. can someone please remove my telephone number from my previous
posts? I replied without removing the signature from the mail!

perfect;
I've restarted just now two runs, trying to build the same target
(xterminal-image) using both branch (dev and dreambox).
I'm using the "generic" distro, and I've set MACHINE to x86, since I need a
very basic Linux setup. Moreover I've updated the database.
Try the "angstrom" distro instead of "generic". "angstrom" fixes a
lot of issues that you might run into with "generic".
