Looking at the current design of GTK client, I do not think this is very much
ergonomic for 6.0 series.
Your point no. 2 should go as another bug.

Bug description:
pls move the bottom line to the similar top location as in WEB client
* it is important to always "see" the context one is working in
* it allows easier switching between clients if info is found in similar areas
of the screen.
