I am not affiliated with OpenFiler. I am, however, a developer of several other open source projects. One of which is a firewall that is quite popular.
You're probably entitled to an explanation to the exent that you have paid for it. You have no right to anything. One thing that I have always struggled with an as open source developer is the number of people who think that they own you because you put something out there under the GPL. They expect immediate service, immediate and lengthy support, and are the first to bitch about it when they don't get it- which they have no right to. This is true- my wife having a baby wasn't good enough reason for some people for me not to answer my emails as soon as it was sent to me! And you know what we rarely get- a simple thank you. What we do get is complaints and whining. Just remember, very few people who have open source projects host the sites themselves. If my host went down unexpectedly, how would I get word out? If this is all it takes for you to lose faith in something remember- It wasn't that long ago that microsoft forgot to renew one of their domains. How trustworthy is the whole project if the website is completely gone for a week while the documentation is on the website, not on the recent iso's ?
