Hi,

Originally the openfiler was not on the internet, I put it on and ran
the updates, I can now see my SAN luns. (It does complain about a qlogic
firmware image issue on bootup but it does work. Which I will look at
more closely)

If you update the qla-firmware and mkinitrd troves, that should resolve the error at bootup.

The x4500 does indeed show all the disks when I run cat /proc/partitions

Okies, could you be so kind as to send me the output of the following command (off list)

perl /opt/openfiler/sbin/list-disks.pl

Can I be cheeky and ask another question regarding the clustering
options?
umm.. no? ;)
I get the impression that the clustering of two openfilers replicates
the data between them.
Is it possible to just have the hosts clustered for failover but using
shared disks via a san?

Very much so. Replication is just one aspect of the clustering functionality and is simply a resource managed by the heartbeat cluster manager. You could leave out drbd (replicated block device) from the cluster resource list to achieve what you want. You'll also need the LinuxSCSI heartbeat resource script configured.

Hi All,

I am new to openfiler and I am trying it out to see if it will work in

my scenario.

I have come across a few snags that I would like some advice on.

Firstly:

I have installed openfiler of a Sun X4500, this box has 24tb (48x500gbSATA) disks. Under Physical Storage Mgmt openfiler only shows

the first 26 /dev/sda to /dev/sdz is this a known issue or is there something on my system?

Possibly a bug in the GUI code. cat /proc/partitions to see whether all 48 drives are showing.

I have a qla2340 FC card in the machine connected to my HP EVA san, I have presented a 1tb lun to the machine. How do I get this to work? I tried doing a fdisk -l but I cant see the lun at all, how can I tel if

the card drivers have been loaded.

lsmod , dmesg

But you need to update a couple of troves in order to get this to work with later kernels:

conary update qla-firmware
conary update [EMAIL PROTECTED]:devel

In that order. The either reload the qla2xxx module or reboot.

Let me know whether all 48 (49) disks show up in /proc/partitions and I'll fix the bug in the GUI code accordingly.
