Almost two years ago, David Erickson and I had the same idea and swapped out the fans to enable the Quanta to be used (with sanity!) in an office. The test SilenX fan died within a year though; could have been a faulty part, but so much quieter. Here are the notes on the original and the one we replaced it with, along with power numbers. I'm sure this voids the warranty, as the replacement's CFM (cubic feet per minute of air moved) is about half the original's.
