A standard Video call requires
4 RTP ports 1 RTP audio 1 RTP video 1 RTCP audio 1 RTCP video
1 Q931 port (Call Signalling)
and optionally 1 H245 port if not H245 Tunneling
No T120 ports
So for 10 calls with H245 tunneling allow
40 RTP ports
10 Q931 ports

Subject: [Openh323gk-users] Number of ports required for video call
I'm testing GnuGK behind a firewall and am wondering how many ports are
really required for H.323 video calls. The sample nat.ini lists these port
ranges:
Q931PortRange=30000-30999
H245PortRange=31000-31999
T120PortRange=50000-59999
RTPPortRange=50000-59999
However the GnuGK Manual lists these port ranges:
Q931PortRange=20000-20999
H245PortRange=30000-30999
T120PortRange=40000-40999
RTPPortRange=50000-59999
I would rather not leave thousands of ports open if it is unnecessary. I
will be dealing with schools which will be using fewer than 10 (probably
less than 5) video endpoints. Could someone please give me an idea of how
many ports in each range are actually required per video call?
Thank you!
