Hi Andrew,

the 2.2.7 executables on gnugk.org are fully static, so it can't be a
missing dependency. It could be be an incompatibility of one of the
SuSE libs that are included in that executable with the kernel Sarge is
using. Or you are hitting a bug in GnuGk that we didn't find, yet
(Maybe related to the permissions for the config files or the pid
file ?)

I would suggest compiling GnuGk directly on Sarge.
