Not sure what you want to say here. Are you against the use of component
technologies? (not that I will defend COM's design for more than about 5
seconds - it's awful - but it does give you the ability to make software
written in two different languages talk to each other).

In an environment with CORBA middleware, developers of GUI clinical
applications which talk to a GEHR EHR server will not know that it is in
Eiffel - their API will be the IDL expression of the interface.
