Most likely they would not care whether someone sees this
as being arrogant. If it fits in with their overall
business strategy they will show the source to anyone
who wants to see it.

I read the whole story like this: The NSA has gotten MS to
"show them the code". This is not so unreasonable to assume
since even MS itself claims that that would be possible under
certain circumstances (large, paying customer, academic
interest, etc.). Now, about the backdoors that is another
matter. The NSA probably did not put in backdoors with MS
knowing about it - and how would MS not know about it
if the NSA did ? But since they do have access to the
source they have the advantage of easily finding exploitable
weaknesses. On the other hand there are are several "known"
("been in the news", that is) instances of US companies
being in the possession of secrets of European companies
(notice how I don't blame someone specifically) and thus
gaining competitive advantages.

:-)) Certainly our Government ain't envious.
Paranoid (Army and Foreign Affairs Office) ? Maybe.
Envious ? Huh ? Why ?
